As Spring gives way to summer, it’s been another great month of opportunities for the team to connect with those working in the space, and to discuss some of the greatest challenges we face in building a private, self-sovereign world.

This month the team participated in AMAs with the ZPrize team, joined a number of podcasts on varied topics, and announced Namada, the first fractal instance of Anoma.

Welcome to the Anoma Community Updates for May 2022.

Introducing: Namada

Namada is the first fractal instance of Anoma, allowing shielded transfers with any assets. The trusted setup ceremony is planned for mid summer 2022 — and might even be incentivized. Co-founder Awa Sun Yin has written an article to explain the need for Namada, how it works, and how you can get involved.

Podcasts

In May, members of the team joined a broad range of podcasts, sharing the background of Anoma, the problems we are trying to solve, and the ways that we hope to solve them using our suite of protocols.

The Interop

Co-founder Christopher Goes joined a discussion with Sebastian on The Interop podcast, a show which aims to explore the founders and entrepreneurs who are working interchain. This wide-ranging discussion covered topics ranging from modular blockchain infrastructure, Tendermint 2.0, and the future of IBC — as well as Anoma.

Brave New Coin

Adrian Brink, co-founder and CEO, joined the Brave New Coin podcast with Andy Pickering. This series focuses on how blockchain is evolving and is reshaping the world. In this episode, Adrian reflected on the history of Anoma, as well as explaining how we aim to fight surveillance capitalism and the over-concentration of power in fiat currency by protecting individuals’ privacy.

Journal du Coin

Adrian also joined the Journal du Coin podcast, where he discussed his background and history of Anoma, and dove into its various protocols and mechanisms — most notably the first fractal instance, Namada, which implements the first versions of Anoma including the MASP.

Socials

On social media this month we have embraced opportunities to connect with the community and have enjoyed collaborating with other teams who share our values and vision for the future of Web3.

Twitter AMAs with ZPrize

In May we joined two Twitter Spaces AMAs with the ZPrize team. ZPrize aims to accelerate the future of zero-knowledge cryptography, offering significant monetary prizes across a range of categories. In this AMA, Anoma Cryptographer Joshua Fitzgerald joined the first, titled ‘Open division: Accelerating Plonkup.’ Divided into three sub-prizes that combine for a total of $410,000, three optimization objectives aim to increase circuit efficiency of the Plonkup proof system.

Christopher Goes then joined the second ZPrize Twitter Spaces AMA, fielding questions about the $7m total prize money committed across a range of categories to accelerate zero-knowledge cryptography.

Events

After the bustle of DevConnect in Amsterdam in April, our team is gearing up for an eventful summer and looking forward to meeting more members of the community in person. From EthCC5 in Paris to BUIDL Asia, to many other events in between, our team will be present around the globe.

Keep an eye out for a big Anoma-hosted event happening during EthCC in Paris in collaboration with other projects in the space. More details to follow very soon — and be sure to follow us on Discord and Twitter for an exciting competition in the coming months.

Community is at the heart of Anoma

Community is central to everything that we are trying to achieve with Anoma. We love having the opportunity to connect, discuss, and collaborate with everyone who is interested in the work we are doing.

With this in mind, make sure to stay updated on Twitter and subscribe to our newsletter. Also be sure to follow the upcoming release of Namada, the first protocol version and fractal instance of Anoma. Also be sure to follow Namada on Twitter.
