Talented naïve art painter, David Berkowitz Chicago was born in Aurora on January 30, 1943. Currently, this painter lives and works in Chicago.  He lived in Aurora during his childhood, until finishing primary school. After that, Berkowitz moved to Chicago. There he entered the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  However, his love for painting really appeared while he was in hospital due to a spine injury. His first paintings were portraits of patients.  In 1970 , after leaving hospital, Berkowitz became a member of the Village group, an art group in his neighborhood. This gifted painter immediately stand out from other painters in the group. The reason for that was his unique style of painting. The most used elements in his paintings are pumpkins, as a symbol of wealth (“when the pumpkin is big and the corn is big), farm, granary, and bareback horses. This is what makes Berkowitz style easy recognizable.  The art of David Berkowitz Chicago is defined as naïve art. In his paintings a special accent is given on the fairy-tale horses from his unforgettable collection and the magical regions of childhood. This makes his artworks easy to be loved.
