Projects Dashboard created with Asana2Go

Asana2Go, the multi-purpose tool to flexibly copy, export and print from Asana (no affiliation), now creates projects dashboards with rolled-up information from multiple projects and teams. (Other new Asana2Go features, import/export of mind maps and generating an Eisenhower Matrix, are covered separately.)

One key use is as a substitute for some of the functionality of Asana Dashboards which will no longer be available in Asana after Portfolios is released, a new feature with a new tier/fee.

But that’s only one example usage. You might need to report across multiple projects for various reasons, and A2G formats are completely customizable; keep reading below for details.

Creating Projects Dashboards and Roll-Ups

This video is the quickest way to understand what projects dashboards can do, and how easy it is to create them in Asana2Go:

What About Displaying My Own Custom Fields?

There’s nothing magical about the two custom fields (PercentComplete and Program) that are used in the Asana2Go standard format that generates the dashboard.

First, they’re optional; if you choose not to create them the dashboard still works fine, and you can still roll-up all your projects’ Progress-related info easily (Project Status/Color/Update, Owner, Start/Due Date, and Project Description). You don’t need Asana Premium to use this feature with Asana2Go.

Second, you can easily add your own custom fields, either instead of or in addition to what’s already here. You’ll need to duplicate and modify the format which is covered in the next video below and in the Help in the extension itself. Use the existing format as a jumping off point; you can roll-up most anything!

Asana2Go — Copy, Export and Print Flexibly From Asana

Asana2Go is a flexible tool for both novices and experts to flexibly copy, export and print from Asana. If you’re unfamiliar, it only takes a moment to try it out. Or just have a look at this demo:

Select from a Library of Standard Reports or Make Your Own

A mind map is just one kind of output that Asana2Go can produce. Novices can select from close to 20 different outputs including lists, tables, CSVs, etc., and the new Mind Map import/export features and Eisenhower Matrix. Experts can create their own custom output using the included authoring tool with data and language helpers and documentation.
