We are celebrating three years of Asia P3 Hub’s journey! We’re taking a moment to reflect at this important milestone, on what we’ve managed to achieve, and what we’ve learned along the way.

It has been three years since Asia P3 Hub was just an idea scribbled on a napkin — this idea became a capstone project, and later on turned into a pilot project that World Vision and the Singapore government believed and invested in. We have come a long way, literally building the ship while we were sailing it. Our operating model and theory of change have evolved and been iterated, good relationships have been built and partnerships brokered, many lives changed — we’ve demonstrated that the people, public and private sectors can come together, find a shared passion and common ground, and collaborate and co-create solutions for the world’s most complex problems.

This special newsletter edition offers our reflections on 3 years of building Asia P3 Hub, how we are marking this point in our journey, and what’s coming that you have to watch out for!

THE FIRST THREE YEARS

Asia P3 Hub’s Journey: A Reflection

“The size of your dreams must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them,” said Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former president of Liberia. Our Executive Director, Christy Davis, shares her reflections on three years of building and operating a multi-sector partnership hub, where it all began, what we’ve achieved, what she’s learned along the way and whether we’ve proven our hypothesis about multi-sector partnership.

Everything Is a Remix

In the ‘Everything is a Remix’ series, Kirby Ferguson looks at remixing in popular culture and technology and how the components of remixing — copy, transform and combine — are really the basic elements of all creativity.

In the five years since the series launched, his video series has been viewed over two million times and resulted in a popular TED Talk. The Remix series continues to change the way people think about creativity, originality, and copyright.

We love the concept of remixing and rethinking creativity. The ‘secret sauce’ for the Asia P3 Hub model is combinatorial innovation — the idea of combining existing knowledge and resources in new ways to co-create solutions to complex challenges. The video series is well worth a watch, and if you like Kirby’s ideas about remixing — you can also re-read this piece by our intern Micaela Tam, on how remixing permeates our culture, and what this means for tackling global problems.
