6 Reasons Your Hair Products don’t work!

As a natural hair consultant and growth therapist, I dare say I have seen and heard it all. Every tale and every element of frustration relating to growing natural hair.

So many hairlistas and naturalistas follow all the rules and processes to attaining flourishing natural hair.

I mean, a ton of naturalistas understand the ‘enemies’ of hair growth and already imbibe the activities and products and tools to improve hair growth.

Still, their hair isn’t thriving!

If this is you, or if this sounds like a challenge that you and/or a friend are currently undergoing, this article is for you.

In this article, we’ll be spotlighting the most likely culprits- Hair Products

So without much ado, here are a few pointers explaining why your hair products aren’t living up to expectations, giving you your moneys worth, and delivering to you the promised results you so desperately desire.

1. Counterfeit Products

I’ll make this as simple as possible. Fake Products don’t work.

Fake products cause more harm than good. The ingredients are terribly sourced and already compromised. The formulas are shabby and not well put together, the production process is probably unhygienic and the combination is problematic and the result to your hair is downright damaging.

So In order to prevent damage to your hair and to prevent a waste of your hard-earned money, please buy your products from trusted, publicly acclaimed distributors, trusted personal shoppers, legit retail stores and brand outlets, or shop directly from the products site.

2. Improper Application

The year is 2023 dearest Naturalista. Why are you disregarding product use instructions and expecting desired results?

After ‘stressing’ and intentionally shopping authentic hair products, if you don’t use as instructed by the formulator, won’t get the best results.

For example:

• Applying leave-in conditioners and deep conditioners on your scalp not strands.
• Using hair oils and butters as moisturizer/hydrators
• Using rinse out conditioners as deep conditioners (etc)

Please read the instructions on your products and apply them accordingly

3. You’re Inconsistent

Misturah, Keturah, Amaka and Ndubisi, listen to me carefully. If you’re not consistent in properly applying your authentic products, you won’t see results.

This is because growth is a continuous process. Using the most potent and effective growth oil for three days, then leaving it for two weeks before continuing won’t bring results. It would only frustrate you.

Please Natural sister, imbibe the culture of consistency.

4. Cleansing & Detox

In the journey of growing healthy hair, dirt is the enemy. For context, properly applying authentic hair products consistently on dirt-ridden strands, clogged pores or follicles, and a scalp covered in buildup, is a waste of time, energy and resources.

So please wash your hair weekly or bi-weekly and detox your scalp and strands as well to remove buildup and enable products penetrate and give you desired results.

5. Usage Rate

I’ll keep this simple. Properly applying ‘meagre amounts’ of authentic products consistently on a clean scalp in order to stretch them out, will most definitely affect the rate at which you see results.

Owing to the meagre amounts and measly use, the nutrients won’t be evenly distributed and the continuous growth you seek, won’t manifest.

Hence your hairs growth will be stunted and in some cases, you won’t even see results.

6. Incompatibility

Please dearest Naturalista refrain from buying products that aren’t the best fit for your hairs type, texture and porosity.

Some products are amazing and effective and they have an amazing track record in the Natural hair community and on the mainstream market but they won’t produce such effectiveness for you because they aren’t compatible with your hair.

To avoid such heartbreak, please speak with a hair consultant to learn what type and texture your hair is, and what products would work best for you.
