How to Configure Polygon on Metamask
MetaMask is one of the most popular and most used crypto wallets out there. In this article, we will walk you through how to add Polygon Network (MATIC) to MetaMask so you can start trading on Polygon right away.
But first, if you haven’t already downloaded and setup a MetaMask wallet then head here: https://metamask.io/.

Remember to write down and store your private key in a safe place and NEVER tell it to anyone!
Connect MetaMask to Polygon Mainnet
Ok, let’s get you configured on Polygon!
To set up a new chain in your MetaMask wallet and whenever you want to switch between chains in the future, use the button at the top where it says “Ethereum Mainnet”
Scroll down the list to the bottom and click on “Custom RPC”.
Next, you need to add the MATIC mainnet details into the required boxes.
Enter the following and press save:
Network Name: Matic Mainnet
New RPC URL: https://rpc-mainnet.maticvigil.com/
ChainID: 137
Symbol: MATIC
Block Explorer URL: https://polygonscan.com/
Congratulations, your MetaMask wallet should now be setup and ready for trading on Polygon!
Before sending any large amounts of MATIC or other tokens to your newly configured MetaMask wallet, it’s good practice to first send a test transaction. Send a small amount of MATIC to your wallet, if you receive the funds you know you’re good to go. If the funds don’t come through, maybe a mistake was made along the way. If so, go back and check the details you entered were all correct and try again!
When you want to switch back to the Ethereum network all you have to do is once again click on the button in the middle at the top and select “Ethereum Network”. You can switch between chains as much as you want, don’t worry you won’t lose your funds!
You are now all setup and ready to trade on Polygon Network!
