A crowdfunding campaign donated $AXS to a lunacian named Kleber, who lost his savings due to a phishing incident.

Kleber has accumulated over 509 $AXS throughout his crypto journey, but lost the entire amount after staking his savings through a malicious website pretending to be the official one. His son, Nenesk, took to twitter to express his emotions over the incident. Little did he know that community members Rojan amd Axie Lima would hear of the event and start a donation campaign to help Kleber get his $AXS back.

“I felt a big relief like taking out a weight from my shoulders. Not only for the money but the stupidity of entering a fake site to stake my $AXSs. I felt like a fool at that moment,” Kleber shared in his native language. “I’ve realized this community is made of beautiful people with a spirit of unity, partners and very spiritual. I feel very grateful for this community.”

Nenesk shared that initially he thought that they would only get around 50 to 100 $AXS back, but was surprised that a lot of community members chipped in. The goal of reaching 510 $AXS was achieved in about 10 days since the campaign was launched.

“People came of nowhere, even other web3 communities, and helped us. I’ve received a lot of lovely and supportive messages from a lot of everyone and it really helped. I ended up reading these messages to my dad and showing him we had already got 149 AXS from this campaign,” Nenesk recalled about the campaign. “He got Moved by it and reinstalled Axie the very same day this happened. He just couldn’t turn his back from such a nice community.”

Lima, Axie Infinity’s Latin America lead, took to twitter to send an “important message” to the community. He gave an update on the status of the campaign and thanked everyone who joined and chipped in.

This isn’t the first time that the Axie community rallied behind a noble cause, and it won’t be the last. The power of community is really amazing and inspiring. But let this incident be a warning to all Lunacians to make sure they’re using the correct and official websites to avoid the incident from repeating.
