Baboon — Genesis
“Baboons eat a lot of food.” — National Geographic
They also can talk… sort of. They have at least 10 different vocalizations they use to communicate.
They yawn, and Gelada baboons have three distinct types of yawns that they use to send social messages.
They also have a genetic similarity of 94% to humans, according to the Amboseli Baboon Research Project.
So, you can say we’re kinda similar. They may seem intimidating, but they’re warm, fuzzy creatures, playful, protective over their loved ones, like us.
They communicate, like us. Eat a lot of food, just like us.
That’s why are our company is named after them: Baboon.
We love Steve Jobs here and can’t deny his futuristic vision has changed the world in ways, big and small. Stay hungry, though? We beg to differ :)
Baboon is the first (and only, to date) food delivery app in Albania, created by two hungry brothers, passionate about nourishing comfort food, sustainability, and transparency.
“How you handle and manage any situation, challenge, or experience in your life is how you probably handle all of them.” — Laura Campbell
We believe ordering and getting your food delivered shouldn’t be complicated, intricate processes that take a lot of your time or energy. We were tired of having to explain our home address, say “no olives please” over the phone every time, having to switch between 8 tabs of different restaurants menus- if they had online menus, to begin with…
We’re proud to announce the app:
✓has 100.000+ downloads
✓holds a 4.6/5 rating in the App Store
✓ №1 in the Food & Drink category in Albania, and
✓ just last week, we delivered 5734 meals to hungry customers
Woohoo!
We’re fully aware that hunger isn’t just a stomach thing, it affects our heart, skin bones, vital organs, and brain.
Our brains uses 20% of our bodies’ energy, and food=energy.
There have been several studies linking malnourishment with kids bad performance in school and drop out rates, and it makes sense.
If you’re hungry, your brain can’t focus.
We don’t want anyone to have to stay hungry for long and have it affect their work, mood, creativity etc.
The food delivery business, especially the online one and the one in Albania, is fairly new so there’s little factual knowledge regarding the market dynamics, growth potential, and customer behavior.
GrubHub struggled to determine the best way to recommend meals to their customers. With 14 million menu items, who wouldn’t?!
The current population of Albania is 2,934,817, and we’re momentarily only available to the capital so as you can imagine we’re significantly smaller, yet we face similar challenges and obstacles.
We’re strong advocates for human-centered design, and we believe that good design is good business.
And what is good design? Good design is pretty, powerful, and it solves a problem… or two, or three.
That’s what we’re trying to do in Albania- being the first food delivery app who will hopefully pave the way for others- make the food ordering, cooking, and delivery process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The eating process takes care of itself just fine :)
As Virginia Woolf said,
One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.
We couldn’t agree more :)
