The BAL Grant program is one of the ways that BalancerDAO promotes the development of the Balancer Protocol and Ecosystem. The Grant Program was established in August after a community discussion, which can be found on Balancer’s governance forum here and the snapshot vote here. The initial program will run until the 31st of October and this vote has given the program 20,000 BAL to be allocated towards grants for this current round (roughly half a million dollars at current prices).

First Live Grantees

Just one month in, and Balancer Grants already has multiple grantees live. After receiving 25 applications, 7 projects have been approved grants for a total of $232,000 in BAL.

The Balancer Grants Committee is proud of the talent this program has been able to attract towards the Balancer Ecosystem. Lets dive into the list:

Indexed Finance

A project focused on the development of passive portfolio management strategies for the Ethereum network. Indexed will migrate their current and future products into Balancer v2.

Read more about the Indexed Finance grant here.

Or ask them your questions! Baller and Grants Committee member Solarcurve will host an AMA with Indexed in the Balancer Discord Wednesday 15th of September at 1PM EST.

dHEDGE

A decentralized asset management protocol connecting the world’s best investment managers with investors on the blockchain in a permissionless, non-custodial, and trustless fashion will integrate Balancer Protocol into the dHEDGE platform.

Tempus

A protocol where users can re-allocate the risk of interest rate fluctuations between each other. Users can deposit their yield bearing tokens (such as stETH) which Tempus splits into tokenized principal and yield tokens. Those primitives can then be traded against each other through the custom Balancer V2 AMM.

HaloDAO

Intends to unlock the potential for non-USD stablecoins to generate permissionless on demand liquidity. With the grant, they will create a new pool-type optimized for FX-style stablecoin trading on Balancer Protocol.

Rabbithole

Will run a Balancer campaign on their crypto-native earn to learn platform. Up to 3000 users will be onboarded into the Balancer ecosystem with this campaign — all of which will be individuals as Rabbithole has a built-in Sybil resistance.

GovBot

A bot that propagates proposals from snapshot.org to Twitter and Discord. It helps stakeholders stay in the loop with governance and voting and will be live in Balancer Discord and Twitter soon!

More on the GovBot grant will be announced tomorrow.
