Get Him Out of There!

Total domination by Arrieta — until he got lifted in the 6th.

As I analyzed prior to the start of game 2, if Arrieta showed up and Bauer got knocked around it would be a long night for the Indians.

Note: Out of fairness to Arrieta I waited until he allowed his first hit before posting. Good luck to Montgomery in relief.

With almost no pressure until the 6th, Arrieta fanned six batters in 5.2IP and was always in control. He faced very little pressure, even though he got behind in the count — Harry Doyle says, “Yowza”.

Prior to the hit in the 6th Arrieta had only 1 game this season with no hits and was also at his best strike to pitch ratio. Tough to beat him at this performance level

If you want to hack on the regular season head over to: Baseball in BigQuery. If you want to learn more about the pressure score and the Harry Doyle method check out this post. Pressure score (pscore) is a function of game score differential, runners on base, and previous at-bat outcomes. Vaughn score (vscore) is a function of count management, location control, and outcome.
