Welcome to our Battle Racers Update! In these updates, we’ll share with you the status of the game and how development is going. For this joint update covering August to September, you’ll get the latest details on upcoming tournaments, parts trading, and our updated roadmap.

The update is divided into the following sections:

  • Build Update
  • Tournaments
  • Parts Trading Update
  • Website Update
  • Press and Events Roundup
  • What’s Next

Build Update:

We have improved general gameplay performance inside our Battle Racers arena, together with the help of the Decentraland team, alongside several improvements on stability, time synchronization, and UI responsiveness. We’ve also implemented a solution to racers who may want to race with others on different Decentraland realms (players will be represented by a default robot avatar in any realm they are not present in, to keep them visible to others).

Tournaments:

As a prelude to the Duel Cup Open tournament, the Battle Racers team would like to introduce the Weekly Duels! We aim to provide a regular series of events to provide an avenue for racers to compete with each other for prizes. The Weekly Duels will award a champion with a prize of one (1) Season 1 Gold Crate, for every week in October.

Read the complete mechanics here: https://medium.com/battle-racers/introducing-battle-racers-weekly-duels-690bc88ed221

The Weekly Duels will consist of 4 single-elimination rounds of 1-vs-1 Best-of-3 matches based on a seeding bracket, with a maximum of 16 participants each week. In line with the Duel Cup, players will be self-scheduling their duels with their designated opponents in a race to the finish, with the winner advancing to the next round.

Each round of duels will have a deadline, so make sure you secure a race time with your opponent within the given time, and report their match results via our #tournament channel on Discord (players are advised to take screenshots of every race’s end result).

How does a player qualify for the 16 participants of the Weekly Duels?

  • Clock a fast race time in Track 1 of our Battle Racers arena
  • Post a screenshot of your best performance (one record only)
  • Top 16 players with the fastest times reported will be invited to the following week’s Duels

The first Weekly Duels event is set to begin next week, but the Time Trials Qualifier will begin now! From today until Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 4:00PM CET, you can start submitting your fastest time screenshots on Track 1 to try and qualify for the Weekly Duels.

Good luck! We’ll announce the 16 qualifiers and their seeding brackets based on the order of their times on Oct. 5, 2020, Monday 4:00PM CET.

UPDATE (10/05/20): Week 1 Time Trials Qualifier has been extended to until Oct. 6, 2020, Tuesday 4:00PM CET. Please refer to this article for the latest information.

Parts Trading Update:

The team has had multiple staging and testing periods during the recent months, and have been hard at work at polishing the bridge for sending parts to the Ethereum main network, from the sidechain, and vice versa. It is unfortunate that we are still not at a level of completion that we can deem truly reliable, as we are encountering issues with transfer times, gas costs, and conflicts that arise from changing NFT token ownership.

We are currently looking into both a solution that addresses the aforementioned rising gas prices in Ethereum, and an alternative way that can allow players to trade, buy, and sell Battle Racers Part NFTs.

These features are coming soon, and the Duel Cup Open Tournament will be held to celebrate the release of Parts Trading once again.

Website Update:

We have enabled support for Arkane Network on the Battle Racers website. With an Arkane wallet, you can manage your car parts and race with them on our Early Access demo. You will receive a prompt to choose which wallet you would like to connect with. Just make sure that you have removed any previously connected wallets. Connecting to an Arkane wallet was one of the tasks in the Atari Token Gaming Competition, which concluded last September 18.

Press and Events Roundup:
