Battle Racers Update (May 2019)
Welcome to our Battle Racers Update! In these monthly updates, we’ll share with you the status of the game and how development is going. Our May update is the biggest yet, with both our Closed Multiplayer Beta and item pre-sale happening in the same month.
Build update: Closed Multiplayer Beta
Since our last update, we focused on creating a multiplayer demo of Battle Racers that people could play before our item pre-sale. We updated the build to be friendly to new players, handpicking sample cars and weapons and placing tutorial billboards around the arena. Tech-wise, we whitelisted over 100 users who signed up for the closed beta, and added their Discord names to their avatars to make it feel more like an online game.
The beta was a success! Our server handled the load surprisingly well, and we got really good feedback from our testers. Check out our Developer Diary for a full report on the event. Now that the beta is done, the team is fixing bugs / issues that our testers reported before moving on to new features.
Item pre-sale update: New starting date
While the build team was working on the beta, our item pre-sale team was hard at work building battleracers.io and developing our smart contracts for our crates and parts. We partnered up with Loom to mint our car parts on PlasmaChain, and integrated Nifty Gateway and Kyber Network to support multiple currencies for the sale. We realized we needed extra time to test and polish the site, so we moved our item pre-sale launch to Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 10:00am EDT (GMT-4), 7:00am PDT (GMT-7), and 4:00pm CET (GMT+2).
In the meantime, our Discord community has been really active in building hype for our pre-sale, so we came up with ways to reward them for their support. Our site has a referral link feature that gives 10% ETH back from purchases made with your link. We launched a bounty campaign to give up to 129 crates to the best community-created content. And as of today, we’re increasing our Day 1 pre-sale discount to 15% off all crate prices!
Lastly, we announced a second advisor for our item pre-sale: Alex Amsel, blockchain specialist (you might know him as Sillytuna). You can learn more about Alex in this post.

What’s next: Cross-game promotions and car customization
It’s pedal to the metal for our item pre-sale launch next week! We’re also gearing up for special events with other blockchain games to create custom cars based on their non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The already announced Axie Infinity cars will be sold sometime during the pre-sale, but that’s not all. We have more surprises coming for you. Watch this space!
Our next big game feature is basic car customization, which lets parts owners mix and match their parts to create complete cars. We can’t wait to see what people make, and will let you know as soon as that feature is ready for roll out.
