This session was all about the updated development roadmap and this is a summary of what we have discussed and shared with our community. If you wish to join the next session, submit your questions ahead of time or join our telegram group!

Summary of the January 2019 AMA with the Bethereum team

Winok: Any plans with the members who keep betting? like a reward for the result or number of bets ?

Robert: Well, the new gaming contest is just around the corner, the guys are already working on the new features we’re going to be bringing in the next contest! I can say some of the features will be especially appealing to all the experienced bettors out there!

Liron: When are you going to start the 1 vs. 1 games?

Giacomo: We are now working on the design of the game (it’s a whole new approach), testing the blockchain core, while developers are busy with coding the new version of our platform, which will be used for a new contest in March.

Liron: What kind of games we will see? I would love to see darts, basketball, or Penalty shootout?

Robert: Right now we’re still in the process of finding ideal games, while the blockchain devs are working on the Smart Contracts (which is going great BTW! a lot more updates in the form of articles coming soon on this one). At the start we’ll have some simple skill-based games, we already found a great Connect Four client we’ll be able to use.

Aan and Dekleenen171: Any news or progress until now for the license you can share maybe?

Giacomo: We can share that we have already passed due diligence for the set-up, that the platform is being developed in accordance to the license guidelines, and that we continue to work on the documentation needed. We haven’t entered the application yet, as the framework is not yet public. We will keep informing you on this.

Dr. Pallen: Any updates regarding exchanges?

Giacomo: Starting in just a few days, Bether will be available on CoinTiger (BTC and USDT pairs) and IDEX (ETH).

You can read the full press release about new exchange listings and trading pairs here.

NK and Dwe mark: Can you share more of your marketing plans when the platform is ready?

Giacomo: Have to be a bit careful about confidentiality here, but let’s just say that we know we’ll always have a free-to-play platform similar to the betting game contests. This will be used to gain a large base, as organic as possible (meaning relying on viral marketing more than paid acquisition), in any area of the world where we believe it makes sense. For example, in the US — where sports betting is currently not legal in most states, but where betting is being gradually legalised (25 to 37 US states are expected to have legal sports betting by 2023). The free large base will give us strong brand awareness and reputation, and we can cross-promote to the paid version of the platform as we acquire betting licenses or partner with licensed operators. White-labeling of the solution is also very important to us, as it allows us to enjoy a significant gross revenue share without needing the marketing budget or license to enter a particular market.

Robert: To add to this, we’ve received a lot of pleasant Emails from Bethereum supporters running various Crypto channels! There are some guys bringing users to our platform on the regular basis. My plan for the next Gaming Contest is to unite these people and power it a bit more! It’s amazing to know that these people were doing this for us, without us even knowing until this point!

Giacomo added: Apart from bringing more exchanges (which will expose Bethereum to new people as well), we will focus on the new betting contest for marketing and PR, and also use it to boost attention on the token based 1v1 game (plan is to release not long after the betting game, as you see in the roadmap). A little possibly enthusiastic goal that I’d like to share with you: we hope the launch of the 1v1 token-based betting coupled with the (much) better betting contest and the expected greater interest will allow us to claim the prize as most adopted dApp on Ethereum in the world. Not a promise :) But our (realistic) ambition.

Hendry Hen: When do you think the market will recover?

Giacomo: We hope soon, as much as you do. But nobody really knows and we won’t guess. It is also an opportunity, not just a crisis… as only the best projects will survive and we plan to be in that group. But yes, we’d all be happy to see constant green numbers on crypto again.

Martin: I think any guess now is just a guess… In the long run, we’re very confident the whole crypto market will go up, but for now, hard to tell… Just today, BTC spiked 5% within 3 minutes.

Ramilshakirov: What do you think will be the course of Bethereum in a year?

Giacomo: Unfortunately I cannot answer this question. We do not give out price expectations or forecasting.

Prem243: Is the 1v1 games are like the world Cup competition?

Giacomo: The betting contest will be completely free — and we’ll always have this approach, so that we can get as many players as possible to experience our solution and enjoy it together. The 1v1 game will be free and we won’t take any commissions… but you’ll be betting Bether tokens against other players there, so it will be possible not just to win tokens… but also to lose them.

Belp Ti: The last few days the market cap Bether continues to decline, how do you react?

Robert: Actually, we’re by far not doing bad in the current market. There are projects out there which have been literally wiped to 0, as they failed to deliver on their plans. We’re focusing on delivering our solution and always informing our supportive community about updates — it’s what people love about us! We’re going to roll out with some cool stuff in the next 2 months and I’d be happy to answer this question again in that time!

Giacomo: We work as hard as we can, keep bringing new and improved services to the market, stay as close as possible to our community, and believe that this will pay off. Can’t comment much on price but it could be a lot worse (based on what has happened to other projects) and the reason why it isn’t is because we know you guys believe in us. So we do all possible to deserve this trust.

Budi Santoso: What will be the difference between the previous and the upcoming betting competition?

Giacomo: For one thing we’ll support eSports and as much as possible streaming of live matches (whenever available). In terms of new features, we’re adding a few really major improvements. For example, you’ll now be able to check various betting statistics that should help you significantly with your bet (all presented in usual user-friendly way you know we work with); You’ll be automatically notified of how your bets ended and the result, using a targeted engine to provide you with customised feedback. We will add live match tracker functionality…so you’ll be able to track all key events happening in a live match. Leaderboards will have filter functionality…so for example if you want to see how you did on eSports in the last week. you’ll be able to do so. And many other features and UX improvements. We will be able to tell you more as we get closer to the release date.

Santos San1: Don’t you go to more markets? Considering the token Bether in the future many need it?

Robert: Well we’re already going to be live on 3 more exchanges in the near future!

Pawel296: The serious downside of tokens is their price volatility. How you do protect players from sudden drops in the value of a token?

Robert: We’ve met a lot of bettors on the major conference tour we had back in 2018, the people weren’t too worried about the potential volatility of the token.

Giacomo: At the moment we don’t have this functionality planned. But should there be demand for it, I am sure it can be added as an optional feature (Imagine a checkbox “PROTECT FROM VOLATILITY”). All we’d have to do is to temporarily exchange the tokens on the bet for a stable coin, and change them back before the bet is paid. Players would not know exactly how many tokens they’ll get back if they win, but they would know that in (USD) value, the bet return is not influenced by token volatility. We can do it — but it’s all about priority. We’ll see how it will be in future.

N K: Who would you say is your biggest competitor?

Robert: There are a bunch of gaming / betting projects in the cryptocurrency space, however I wouldn’t even go as far as calling them our direct competitors. We’re really doing our unique spin on the whole betting and gaming process and I can’t say I’ve seen anything similar; yet alone on the blockchain.

Giacomo: A wise man once said that when you get in the ring you’re just fighting against yourself, and the guy in front of you is just in your way. Yeah ok you got me: Sylvester Stallone said that in the film Creed. But the message is true: we track the competition, we look at market, gaming, and betting development…but at the end we believe we have our way and that it will be enough to bring us to excellent results.

I think the easiest way is to google “Blockchain betting” — you’ll typically find us in the top couple of results…and the projects around that are more or less the most active direct competitors. But each of us has a different take on the market…for some it’s about creating the best protocol to enable others to run betting platform, for others is about creating a fully anonymous decentralised platform that doesn’t have to register a license anywhere…Without taking ANYTHING away from others’ strategies, we are practical: we want to create the most user-friendly, innovative, and engaging betting platform in the market, and root it on top of truly cutting edge Blockchain technology.

Will the full betting platform come this year?

Yes.

This was an amazing session, thank you everyone for your great questions! We definitely want to keep you involved and truly value your feedback.
