While working to become the betting market standard, Bethereum has established and is creating new social features that make Bethereum accessible and attractive to casual bettors. From a group of friends who want to bet against each other to sports fans looking for a safe and fun place to make a few wagers, Bethereum will become the new betting home for those with and without betting experience.

Are you ready to place your first bets on Bethereum? Before placing a wager on a sports or esports event using Bethereum, here are 7 things you should consider:

How Much Can I Afford to Lose?

I once wagered a friend that my Detroit Lions would finish with a better record than the Chicago Bears. Our agreement was that the loser of the bet would buy the winner a full keg of beer of their choice. This turned out to be a $150 bet that I could not afford, although I did find a way to pay off the bet.

Before placing a bet, carefully consider how much you can afford to lose. Not only do you not want to bet more BETHER than you can afford, you should carefully manage the tokens you have so that you’re not wagering a large percentage of your bankroll (or all of it) on a single bet. Anything can happen in sports, so don’t bet everything on a single match.

Likelihood Versus Opportunity

Part of the fun of betting is being able to place a small bet while dreaming of a big return. In order to win big, the bet you make has to be very unlikely to happen. Weigh the likelihood of what you’re betting on coming true before placing the bet.

For example, if you’re betting on West Ham United to win the English Premier League, you’re very likely to lose that bet, but if they were to win the league, your winnings would be substantial. Don’t make a bet on an unlikely outcome unless you are okay with taking on this risk for the opportunity of a big payday that probably won’t happen.

Weather

Believe it or not, weather can play a leading role in a sporting event. Not only can severe weather delay or postpone a match, it may change both team’s strategies. If heavy rain is expected during an NFL (American football) game, teams will run the ball more than they will pass, which could change which team has an advantage. It also means that the score will likely be lower than first expected. Before placing a bet, you might want to check the weather to see if rain or any other extreme conditions are expected.

Injuries

A single injury changes the complexion of a game. If the team you want to bet on is missing their top star or several starting players due to injuries, they will need to make adjustments, and those adjustments could put their chances of winning at risk.

Rivalries

One thing I’ve learned from my years as a casual bettor is to be careful when betting on a rivalry game. Rivalry games are matches where both teams are very familiar with each other and likely to try harder than in their other games. This results in many unexpected outcomes, so be cautious when betting on a favorite in a rivalry game, they will be facing a very determined and motivated opponent.

What’s at Stake for the Teams Involved

Every game matters in sports, but not every game matters the same. Let’s say that the football season is coming to an end and one of the teams in a match has to win to avoid relegation (being sent to a lower league the following year). If their opponent doesn’t have much to play for, you can expect the team on the brink of relegation to play extremely hard and possibly outplay their recent form.

Recent Form

Past results don’t guarantee future performance, but you can learn a lot about a team by looking at how they have been playing of late. Before placing a bet, search for how each team has played over their past five matches.

Regardless of what information you consider when placing your bets on Bethereum, good luck, have fun, and don’t bet more than you can afford to lose!
