After a couple of weeks of development and testing we’re proud to announce that the public beta version of Biotron’s mobile app for Android is available for download on Google Play.

Share Data, Get BTRN Tokens

The aim of the first version is to start onboarding users and create our own dataset we can work with. Initially we’ll be rewarding users for their activity — you can get 10 BTRN for creating an account, 10 BTRN for enabling location data collection, and 5 BTRN for each week the location data collection was running. These rewards will be available for a limited time only, so the sooner you start, the more you can earn.

Cashing Out

To transfer the BTRN tokens you earned you’ll have to connect your ETH wallet which can receive custom (BTRN) tokens. If you don’t have one, here is a detailed guide how to create it on MyEtherWallet. Adding custom BTRN token to the ETH wallet was described on or Medium blog as well. However, in the initial phase you’ll have to accumulate at least 50 BTRN to make the transfer.

You’re In Control

As promised, we will only collect the data you give us permission for. We will never start collecting and using any other data for commercial purposes without your prior consent. And if you decide to go, you have a couple of options as well — opting out of data collection, deleting any data we collected from you, or even deleting your whole account. All of these are available directly in the application.

Fixes & Improvements

We’re already working on a new version of the Biotron’s mobile app, so if you have any suggestions or encountered some issues, do let us know at support (at) biotron (dot) io, or any of the communication channels we use (official Telegram group, Twitter, Reddit, and Bitcointalk work the best).

Future

The location data that we’ll collect through our app will be used to improve the analytics and insights for our clients in combination with data we acquired from other sources. As soon as we generate any revenue, it will be split and shared with those users who provided their data for the respective analysis.

Once the whole process is validated and we’ll be satisfied with how the Android app works, we’ll develop the iOS version as well, which is planned for later this year (probably Q4 2018). Based on the demand from our clients we’ll be adding other datasets and sources as well.

And don’t forget to leave us a 5-star rating on Google Play if you like the app, which will help us spread the app to as many users as possible. We appreciate your support and looking forward to your feedback!
