The next advisor in the series is Kevin Doerr. Kevin attended Suffolk University in Boston, studied computer science and has spent most of his career building and managing digital products; as well as helping new companies through their early stages.
Between 1996 and 2007 Kevin worked for Microsoft. In his role as General Manager of Windows Live, he worked on the development of the digital platform and related products. From 2011 to 2013 he was Vice President of Mobile Products at Yahoo. Later, he was EVP, General Manager for The Weather Company. There he oversaw product and engineering for a wide range of platforms and services, including mobile and OTT. During this time Kevin worked with partners like Apple and Samsung, helping to shape their consumer experience platforms.
Kevin helped found Archimedes Labs, an incubator which invests in early stage Silicon Valley companies. The project has been highly successful; with 80% of their companies having gone on to raise more capital. Kevin used his expertise in developing tech companies, particularly consumer mobile services, to help Archimedes Labs achieve its success. He has experience in raising funds, investing capital, and managing portfolios of investments.
Today, Kevin works as the Senior Vice President, Domains at GoDaddy, a web hosting company. It follows similar principles to Archimedes in that it aims to help small companies and entrepreneurs break into the market and take their first few steps confidently, by giving them the help and resources they need.

I like the idea of being able to start to separate the tranches of data toward more control and ownership of their own data. I think in an age where some of the largest technology companies are becoming very aggressive about data ownership and use of data third party or otherwise, it becomes really incumbent upon companies to start to produce opportunities to separate those things.
As big as the endeavor is, I think Alex and the team know the timing is right and that there is an opportunity, there is a window here, and they can pull together the funding through the ICO, they can pull together the talent from various academic institutions and the technical community, I think they feel pretty confident like I do that if we’re going to tilt at it, that time is now.
