Kote Helps Real Life Cuties in Latvia

Once we sold our mascot Kote to Spigfun, we realized that it was time to deliver a part of the proceeds to an animal shelter. It was exciting and scary at the same time. We have never made donations all on our own as a company.

The due diligence process was the easy part. The hard part was to deliver as much value with the donation as possible. Our motherland loves taxes while it rarely spends them on animals. The lump sum payment to charity would suffer a sizable tax bite out of it which left us less than excited.

Luckily, our COO Nataly is a bargaining expert.

Using the donation money, she was able to buy a truckload of useful items for the shelter. To be honest, we have never seen so much kitty litter in one place.

We managed to fund the largest material donation in Dzivnieku Draugs shelter’s history.

Dzivnieku Draugs (Animal Friend) — is an animal shelter in Latvia that focuses mainly on helping cats to find new homes and have better living conditions.

Here is a part of our team in front of the building. Can you guess which two people have fur allergies and are fighting for their lives? Can you guess whose family brought home someone cute that day?

Visiting Dzivnieku Draugs shelter was an amazing experience that we would love to share with you.

All of this became possible thanks to Spigfun adopting our beloved mascot — Kote.

TRIGGER WARNING!
There are pictures of animals in cages ahead. But please don’t be sad or worry for them. These animals have good care and go out to stretch their paws in turns, so they don’t get in a fight. Also, none of the animals are put to sleep in this shelter. They keep them until they find a new home. And most of them get adopted.

The shelter has several rooms where they keep kittens and big cats as well as a kitty motel where stray cats can come to eat and sleep.

Once we came in, we got an instant cuteness overload. There were cuties everywhere!

One of the kittens was named Spigfans in honor of Spigfun.

Why Spigfans and not Spigfun? It’s Latvian. You transliterate U to A and have to add S at the end. We are simple people, so if the word doesn’t have S at the end we can’t put it in the sentence.

That day someone from our team became a cat dad.

Our Game Designer — Joy adopted two kittens! They now have a loving home and even a Youtube channel.

Here are the photos of a kitty motel:

Here is the cat going home that day. Not happy because he is bound for a bath:

Here is a cat I wish I could take home. She was super fat, super memeable and super loving:

it’s an 11 year old kitty that belonged to a lady who passed away. She’s not pregnant, those are curves.

Here is a cat that was on a walk at the moment. Kote tried to make friends:

We are super grateful for the opportunity to help our local cuties! Thank you Spigfun!
