Not So Secret Handshake, Demystifying the HNS Ecosystem
Part 3: Nomics Finance
Table of Contents: (Parts 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0)
In this series I’ll be covering all the projects building on Handshake. After writing a short article with a high level take on the project I decided to take a deeper dive. If there is a project or person you’d like me to cover, reach out to me on Twitter.
Project Feature: Nomics
While not a Handshake specific project, Nomics is providing a valuable service to the ecosystem, Data. More specifically, good data. The Nomics team are focused on supporting funds, apps and exchanges with with transparent and accurate data.
We’re featuring them in this series because they were one of the first data sites to support Handshake. In this case, support means providing investors data to make actionable decisions on.
Let’s meet the team:
- Clay Collins, CEO
- Nick Hauthier, CTO
- Tyler Spencewood, Head of Front-End Development
- Tres Trantham, Back-End API Development Lead
- Bogdan Popa, Senior Back-End Developer
- Brandon Harrison, Creative Director and Front-end Developer
Uhh, Who?
If you’re not a fund, fintech company or crypto exchange the name Nomics may be new to you. But if you’ve ever tried to trade via an API, then you know the importance of fast, accurate data. Even if you’re not a developer or professional trader, you can imagine that it’s important for your automated trading strategies to be able to rely on the data they’re trading against — as bad data would mean incurring poor returns if your strategies are then deployed on the public market.
There are certainly other companies in this space that market themselves as having both rich and accurate information. Other companies still provide data, but are noticeably quiet on exactly how correct it is. What really sets Nomics apart from their competitors is that they are an “API first” business. If you don’t know what this means, it means that they primarily focus on creating tools for developers to bring data directly into their application or trading algorithm — they focus on the good data, and in return you get better models.
As a Handshake Hodler what do I need to know about Nomics?
For those of us who may just be looking for a chart to refresh all day hoping for a moonshot, Nomics is here to serve that need too. Frankly, if you’re looking for accurate information on any crypto-asset it’s a great place to check. Exchanges are known for faking volumes. Wash trading plagues the industry at large, and generally the price of an asset can change no matter where you look.
So if you’re an institutional player thinking about adding crypto assets such as HNS to your portfolio, or looking for better data to feed your trading bot, Nomics could be for you.
They were an early supporter of Handshake (and they even correctly cite the circulating supply, as the HNS asset is burned from name bidding), so I think they are the bees knees. But as with everything in crypto, do your own research.
Where can I find these paragons of the programming interface?
They are a real company, with a reliable customer service team. The best way to connect with them is to head over to Nomics.com to get in touch. If you’re a crypto twitter enthusiast, you can find the individual team members in the links above.
