Find the application form for this program over here.

What went down in the first edition of the bootcamp?

  • 30 applicants applied. Out of which, 4 successfully progressed through to the final (9th) session and graduated at the end of April. We will publish another article more about their experience next week.
  • We put those who successfully completed the 4 weeks on to a global hackathon, HackMoney organized by EthGlobal. We will soon showcase their efforts. 3 out of 4 managed to successfully complete their hackathon projects.
  • It was a massive learning experience for us to deliver the online sessions, assignments, content according to the lesson plan and fairly evaluate the progress of everyone involved.
  • Additionally, we had to be fair to the overarching principle of the hacker mindset that we believe in and wanted to share and propagate through this program

From our experience with certain candidates from the last cohort, we have added a few extra qualifier points to get started with the program. Do read the requirements section in the end.

Brief summary of the program

  • These sessions will be held 2 days per week. A maximum of 90 minutes per session.
  • The program begins from June 3, 2020.
  • It will be structured by progression in complexity of the concepts being implemented.
  • It is application oriented to ensure you get comfortable with a fast, iterative approach to building projects. An absolutely critical skill at present.
  • Content, reading material, example code will be provided as preparatory material to be mandatorily covered before joining each session.

Key takeaways

⦿ Learn about microservice based architecture that power most web applications

  • enables you to work on Fullstack projects that require multiple services to coordinate together
  • initiation in the practical fundamentals of Distributed Systems.
  • these services will go live on an Ethereum test network

⦿ Learn to work with APIs

  • consume EthVigil APIs to run the business logic on blockchain (see above point)
  • create your own API endpoints to be consumed by other services, like a dynamic and interactive frontend in Javascript
  • integrate with other third party API platforms to enhance features.

⦿ Learn to build automated workflows with the above knowledge and get a practical knowledge of software composability.

⦿ A certificate of completion at the end of the bootcamp with verifiable proofs of your code activity on blockchain.

⦿ Most importantly, unleash your creativity and collaborate with developers all over the world on open source projects. Get noticed by potential recruiters for your development prowess.

Every session will be available as a recording for you to revisit later and refer back in case of doubts or further study.

Requirements from participants

  • Follow the preparatory guidelines and assignments before attending each session. Have a decent working internet connection that you can stream or play the sessions on. If you are unable to attend live sessions due to timezone or other constraints, the recording will still be sent as long as you complete assignments prior to the session.
  • Ensure you have the right development tools and platforms installed. We will of course assist you with this part, but having a hands on understanding of working with development tools like git, code editors, installing scripts from a command line prompt etc. is absolutely necessary.
  • Complete the necessary evaluations like tests, quizzes and anything else that might be required to progress. If you miss two assignments in a row or fail to complete them satisfactorily, we shall request you to discontinue.
  • Be curious, willing to take things apart and question.

Disclaimers

  • The requirements mentioned above are uncompromisable for the program to go through smoothly.
  • BlockVigil reserves all rights to discontinue a participant’s enrollment in the program if the above conditions are not satisfactorily complied with.
  • Any attempts at harassment, bullying, passing inappropriate behavior/remarks/comments not in a professional capacity will attract an immediate blacklist from our platforms and our partners, followed by all required legal procedures.
