Our last post introduced Team Azureus and Eureka’s participation in the month-long EthGlobal organized HackFS hackathon. These two developer teams, formed during the 2nd edition of our Remote Developer Bootcamp, have come to the conclusion of HackFS. Also, our internal team submitted a last-minute hack, a notarized document signing solution, called BlockSig.

… and we have good news to share!

🎉🥳 Team Azureus and BlockSig took home a total of three prizes!

👉 Firstly, our bootcamp team, Azureus, won Fleek’s Storage Prize for their dApp, named TollFS.

They integrated Fleek’s Space Daemon, which acts as a data repository for user-controlled data that apps can use to build an ecosystem around, for storage and encryption of customer and toll data. This decentralized application for tolling plaza payments impressed the judges because the rise of central bank digital currencies make this idea increasingly feasible, and there is a wide range of use-cases for this governmental payment system.

During the process, team Azureus regularly checked-in with our team for guidance on their full-stack project. Shubham Sharma, an Azureus team member, said:

“The feedback from our mentors was especially beneficial. They told us how we could improve on our project using tools and techs we were otherwise unaware of. They guided us throughout the process and made sure we didn’t slack. The team sync meet ups pushed us through the week, making the product more competent and practical”

👉 Further, BlockSig made it all the way to the HackFS Finale, where only 10 of the 134 dApps made the cut to showcase on the big stage.

This dApp provides a fully digitalized notary service where legal documents can be stored securely and transparently. Once signatures of the two involved parties are submitted, the notary finalizes the document and the final hash is stored on Ethereum for proofs. BlockSig’s verification protocol amazed the judges and earned them the Fleek Storage and Hosting pizes!

In addition to HackFS, Eureka team member, Vaibhav Muchandi participated in Smart India Hackathon 2020. Vaibhav’s solution eAarogya Portal for EHR Management won Smart India Hackathon for leveraging blockchain for electronic health records. Our bootcamp graduate mentioned:

“It all started with the bootcamp. The first sessions of the bootcamp were really helpful to brush-up my Solidity and Ethereum knowledge. After using the EthVigil API’s for the first time, I realized how easy it was for developers to create dApps for users to interact with web3 easily. At that time I decided that I will have an incentive system in my project which will use the API’s and both Swaroop and Anomit had the answers to all my queries”

On that note, we have one final announcement.

BlockVigil’s Remote Developer Bootcamp is back!

We are opening up registration for the 3rd edition of our web development bootcamp. For more information, please refer to our previous announcement for the bootcamp below ⬇️ and get familiar with a

  • brief summary of the program
  • key takeaways
  • requirements for participants
  • disclaimers

Everything stays the same as our previous edition, except for one change.

Starting with this edition, participants are required to stake $10 (USD) against their slot. The return of this stake is contingent upon the successful completion of the cohort. We will monitor and maintain proof of each participant’s progress every two sessions. In cases where the participant

  • fails to update his progress on the assignments, lesson plans
  • is in violation of any of the clauses mentioned in the “Requirements from participants” section,

…they lose their stake.

If there are emergency issues with health, work, personal life, communicate the same to us well in time and we will ensure your stake gets returned without any hassles.

As per tradition, we have ensured that graduates continue with their education by entering them into hackathons where they get to apply their hard-learned skills right away. So far, we have had tremendous success with this model through many bagged prizes. We wish to keep it that way. For this reason, at the end of the 3rd developer bootcamp, we will help graduates form teams to participate in EthOnline, one of the biggest Ethereum hackathons organized by EthGlobal this year.

Thank you for tuning and do share the application below!
