Hey folks, it’s Brawl Wednesday! Figured I would share what I will be playing tonight after the kids are asleep. This spicy pile of 57 cards (if you recall Ugin and Stonecoil Serpent are auto-includes) is based around one thing.

Opponents on Arena can’t talk to you

With this in mind we will be playing almost every card that makes it so that the opponent can barely play magic. The best ones tend to be in Esper so that leaves us with one option as a general.

Her abilities are mostly flavor text, we are just using her for access to the colors, except for a few instances of value faeries we may never cast her at all.

Most of these other cards will be text names only or else this article would be 100 feet long. So to deal with:

Go Wide:

Revenge of Ravens

Archon of Absolution

Single Combat

Tokens Specifically:

Blast Zone + Soul Diviner

Mass Bounce stuff

Go Big:

Blightbeetle

People Running Blue:

Narset, Parter of Veils

Deafening Silence

Rule of Law

Teferi, Time Raveler

Ramp/Tutoring:

Ashiok, Dream Render

Graveyard Nonsense:

Ashiok Again

Grafdigger’s Cage

Yes some of these cards will also kibosh some of our own strategies at any given time, but it will in general be worth it.

OH CHRIS you say, I AM A BRAWL NOT GOOD PERSON PLEASE TELL ME OH BRAWL MASTER HOW WILL I FIND WHAT I NEED

So either if we have Manifold Key we can just keep activating this, if mana light make sure the last card you search for is Karn because then the talisman is useless to them. If you want to get things realllllly spicy we can use

Any value artifacts that dont really matter to use can be turned into multiple wishclaw talismans that revert back to their original nonsense afterwards so they can’t tutor with it. Even say a stonecoil serpent for 1 is probably a decent thing to trade off with. Also another possibility is to run steal effects to just take the stuff back.

BUT HOW DO I WIN:

Jam in every PW in the colors and also Karn’s bastion. We are basically turning this deck into Landstill where we are getting tons of value while still not being too bothered by the Rule of Law/Deafening silence effects.

Run all three leylines in our colors, they all do useful stuff and dropping 2 or in some cases all 3 will probably get the player to concede right then and there.

Or in some boardstates just get them to concede in general.

So there you go folks, here is a deck that would get you punched in person but in Arena the worst that they can do is emote good game at you every 2 seconds, in cases like these you rope them and do your stuff at the last possible second.

Hope to see you on the Brawl pitch tonight, though you may not want to run into me.
