Presented in partnership with Boson Protocol.

Prepare yourselves for a digital fashion event like never before coming this month to London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.

Biomimicry, by digital fashion pioneer Auroboros, will be the world’s first emotive and experiential live art performance presented in partnership with Boson Protocol.

Watch as a gown literally mimics the growth of a flower, thriving, blooming and expiring right before your eyes.

Starting from September 18 and lasting until the 26, explore the blurring of the universe and the metaverse. Immerse yourself through augmented reality and witness the transformation in real time.

The Exhibition

The Biomimicry gown will autonomously transform in shape and colour by Ai-Da, the world’s first ultra-realistic robot artist, who will be drawing and rendering the metamorphosis.

Throughout its ephemeral life cycle, we invite the viewer to witness this unique transformation, prompting thoughts of ecological consciousness and mortality that lie at the heart of sustainability.

The term biomimicry was coined by Jane Benyus as “a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature… finding hope along the way,” an ethos that Auroboros carries at its core.

Auroboros’ desire to make couture more accessible to a broader audience whilst maintaining its brand’s vision, birthed the idea for digital ready-to-wear clothing.

Partnered with Boson Protocol

Auroboros launched Biomimicry on January 25 and made history, in partnership with Boson Protocol, when showcasing it at this year’s London Fashion Week.

Auroboros digital fashion represents a perfect solution against many fashion industry downfalls; allowing to create without physical limitations, translating to true sustainability with 97% less material waste than physical clothing production.

Furthermore, Auroboros’ digital collection is ‘made-to-measure,’ as each piece is individually applied onto the wearer making it truly all body and gender inclusive.

Together, Auroboros and Boson Protocol both operate at the intersection of the virtual with the real world. Both future-facing brands will be working together in Portal, connected by Boson Protocol in Decentraland, further blurring the line separating the universe from the metaverse.

Boson Protocol is a commerce tool that enables the decentralized exchange of anything. It enables digital to physical redemptions using NFTs and connects smart contracts with real-world commerce.

Auroboros’ centrepiece in Portal will be an initial offering of a unisex clothing item or accessory. The item will be designed as a digital wearable for Decentraland and as a physical piece to be delivered through despatch.

The team at Boson Protocol is once again thrilled to be working alongside Auroboros.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity. Go see the exhibit!

She draws using cameras in her eyes, AI algorithms and her robotic arm, and her composite persona was devised by the Oxfordians. With rapid change underway, Ai-Da encourages discussion over the type of global futures we want to see. Here at the V&A she officially announces her entry into the coming metaverse.

About V&A’s London Design Festival:
