Boson Protocol Live on Ethereum Mainnet

The Boson Protocol team is pleased to announce we have released the first version of our decentralized commerce protocol on Ethereum Mainnet. Boson Protocol’s v1.0 enables anyone to sell physical products in the metaverse as NFTs. At first, this will be within our Decentraland experiential space — Boson Portal. Our vision is that Boson will connect every virtual world, game or website.

The protocol ultimately creates a commerce bridge between the virtual and real worlds. Innovative brands can connect directly with their customers, who will benefit from unique digital-to-physical experiences that drive new levels of brand engagement, due to the immersive qualities inherent to metaverses.

While in Boson Portal, within Decentraland, you can browse for products, then receive the physical items on your doorstep or collect in-store. Both you and your avatar could wear the same pair of sneakers or t-shirt, if you so choose.

We have also planned other activities at Boson Portal, such as product drops from household brands as well as crypto-native fashion houses (e.g. Metafactory, Auroboros, DressX), in-game wearables, NFT art auctions, games, exhibitions, promotional campaigns and immersive cultural events in the metaverse. Of course, Portal will feature the Glass Suit by Dolce & Gabbana, which made NFT and fashion history in October.

A stepping stone towards the future of commerce

Boson Portal is a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), the first move in our go-to-market strategy to provide the infrastructure of metaverse commerce. From the very beginning of the Boson Protocol journey, we set out our vision to provide the decentralized network upon which future commerce will run. We’re on our way.

This progress owes a lot to the people behind it. We have recently assembled an All-Star team of specialists in NFT technology, legal engineering, decentralized governance, platform business models, protocol design, marketing, Game Theory… all bases are covered. We believe this brainpower is critical for solving one of the biggest problems in blockchain — and so mobilizing the trillion-dollar opportunity of decentralized commerce.

There is so much more to come. Boson Portal is just the prequel to the main event. We have already designed the next iteration of our protocol, which is 10 times more powerful. When we launch it in the first half of 2022, our metaverse commerce solution will enable brands to sell physical products in multiple metaverses, directly from existing e-commerce channels.

But let’s live in the moment. Upgrading from Testnet to Mainnet is an important milestone for every blockchain project, and we’re pumped to deploy our smart contracts with Ethereum, the biggest ecosystem in Web3. With real applications in the metaverse, we are already attracting important Web3 and Web2 brands.

Momentum is building. This is the dawn of decentralized commerce and it all starts with the metaverse.
