Community Update — Grant Program Launches 🚀

Last week we held our very first event in the metaverse, dCommerce Meetup Boson x Decentraland. It was wonderful to meet so many of you in the meterverse and share more details about our Metaverse Commerce Strategy as we explored Boson’s estate in Decentraland Vegas City. We have lots of exciting news to share with you today so stay tuned!
Boson Protocol Grant Program
We are announcing a $5 million grant program to enable others to join us on the journey to build an entirely new decentralized commerce ecosystem that is truly based on an open, tokenized economy.
Boson enables smart contracts to connect to real-world commerce using decentralized infrastructure that everyone can trust and anyone can use. We welcome individuals, companies, teams and research institutions to join us on the endeavor.
For the first wave of grants, we are particularly interested in projects working on the following areas:
- dCommerce applications & components
- Metaverse commerce
- Community and ecosystem
- Tooling, developer experience and more

Reference Application Preview
At the heart of Boson Protocol’s mission is the idea of becoming the world’s open public infrastructure layer for commercial transactions and its data.
Boson does not want to replace Web 2.0 legacy platforms with another platform monopoly. Instead we aim to enable a vibrant ecosystem of developers creating their own applications and businesses using the protocol as their foundation.
To showcase the possibilities of the sort of applications you can build on Boson, we present here a film of an upcoming reference application which illustrates the buyer and seller flows in a digital-to-physical purchase and redemption journey.
This Reference App shows you how to build a peer-to-peer marketplace, powered by Boson Protocol, where users can not only connect their wallets and list a set of items as a seller, but also discover products available for purchase as a buyer.
What else is happening in Web3?
As you will all, hopefully, know by now we purchased some LAND in Decentraland and so we see the metaverse as a key path of our future. Matthew Ball recently published this article, all about what makes a metaverse and the components within them. With great quotes like “Based on precedent, however, we can guess that the Metaverse will revolutionize nearly every industry and function.”, it is definitely a must read!
