Holiday Checklist for Business Owners

The holidays are coming and Christmas shopping will again take center stage. Every retail company knows what the season means for business. The sales opportunities are countless, but you will need all hands on deck and every loose ends secured to ensure that your company will be able to meet the demands of the holiday season.

To best accomplish your holiday business goals, it is best to have a check list of all the areas that you need to be prepared for. Here’s a rough guide that you can use as your reference:

1. Reinforce your staff requirements for processing orders

The Christmas season is expected to bring in hordes of buyers so make sure that you have enough staff to cover all the areas that need manning to avoid overwhelming your current number of staff.

For instance, you will need more people taking care of receiving orders and processing them.

You may have enough manpower on regular days, but the number of orders that you will receive may be more than twice that number during the holidays.

You must also consider providing your employees a leave to celebrate the season with their families. You’re going to need people who can take over their shifts to oversee the order processing when they are not around.

Outsourcing your manpower needs to a reliable and experienced BPO company will save you time and resources that you need to train new people and to get them ready for the Christmas sale.

2. Review your retail management system in the previous years before the holidays kick in

The best way to ensure that your business will deliver well to your clients this season is to collate and review your company’s performance and data from the previous years and the business forecast for this season, and put together a feasible plan based on this information.

With all the hustle and bustle, it is best to seek help of an outsourcing company that offers data and research services to do this for you in the quickest and most efficient way possible.

This same company can also do the review of your retail management process and inventory at the end of the year. This way, you can create a post-holiday clearance strategy and do some advance planning based on your sales performance.

3. Put your shipping process in order

One of the things that a client does not want to experience on Christmas season is the delay of the delivery of their purchases. So put your shipping processes to make sure that the delivery is smoothly performed.

4. Ensure responsiveness and accessibility of your CSR’s.

The quality of your customer service is crucial during the holidays. You need to open the lines for your customers for you to be able to address their concerns immediately.

With everyone busy with ongoing tasks, your best option is to outsource your CSR needs to a BPO company that you can trust to respond to your customers inquiries and concerns properly above satisfactorily.

5. Utilise advanced technologies for business

More and more customers are resorting to online shopping for their purchases, and the number is expected to increase during the holidays.

If you are not technically adept, find a BPO company that can help you maximise the benefits of technology for your company, such as utilising mobile apps for mobile users and the use of electronic gift cards for purchases.

6. Strengthen your data security system

Hackers are on the loose during the holiday season, with web users inputting their data at several online shopping sites.

Update your maintenance management and make sure that all your confidential data are secure from cyber threats and free from intrusion from online thieves.

7. Set an accounting of your company’s finances over the holidays

Every business person knows that you need to be on top of your finances, in season and out of season. But it’s easy to overlook many details when you’re thrown into the busyness of the season.

Find a finance and accounting outsourcing company to keep an account of your cash inflow and outflow so you can relax and enjoy the holidays yourself.

Look for the right outsourcing partner to cover areas in your business that you can no longer cover for you to make the most out of the holidays.

The Christmas season can rake in tremendous sales for your company, as well as bring in many new customers, but it will all depend on the experience that you will be able to provide them.

So get to work and put the right people in place, and give your buyers an experience they will never forget.
