5 Reasons You Are Not Getting Promoted as a Business Analyst
To get promoted, behave as if you already are
“I’ve been here for a while — why am I not getting promoted? How can I get a senior position? Why are they advertising the job instead of giving it to me?”
While getting promoted is not always based on merit, and politics and nepotism are still alive and kicking, it’s still up to you to make yourself promotable. First, you have to demonstrate your potential.
While there is much general advice about taking initiative, signing up for courses and making friends in the right places, in this article we will consider BA competencies.
What abilities do you have to demonstrate as a business analyst to get noticed, valued, and eventually — promoted?
Sometimes, it is easier to get a point across starting from the opposite end. So, what will hold you back from getting a promotion?
Reason #1: You are not a good facilitator.
It is usually evident in meetings if the facilitator:
