Why — as a digital agency — we chose to work exclusively on BigCommerce

I don’t know if our website has said it enough, but at Calashock we work with just 1 ecommerce platform — BigCommerce.

We used to work on Magento and Shopify, but around 2 years ago, after really having worked on just BigCommerce for several months before that, we formally decided to put all our eggs in one basket and partner up solely with BigCommerce in Austin, Texas.

There were a few reasons why we did this, but the main one was that there will never be a catch-all, suit-all solution for every ecommerce business on the planet. What works for one company will not necessarily work for another, and what one organisation is looking for in a platform will be different from what another requires. Of course, when it comes to features and functionality there are always apps available, but these can sometimes increase the cost of ownership, slow down performance, or just become a pain to manage.

“We are the first and currently only BigCommerce Preferred agency in Europe to be 100% specialised in BigCommerce”

But BigCommerce seemed to be the one that we would more often that not recommend to prospective clients, or clients looking to re-platform. It has the most native features for growing businesses, more competitive total cost of ownership, and better up-time (admittedly most small to medium-sized merchants won’t feel the effects of 0.02% less up-time, but our enterprise clients would).

By making the shift to BigCommerce — we are the first and currently only BigCommerce Preferred agency in Europe to be 100% specialised in BigCommerce — we are able to ensure our focus and expertise stays on 1 platform (rather than trying to be master of many platforms) and our clients benefit from the knowledge and experience we have of BigCommerce.
