“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.”

And just like that we’re pretty much at the halfway point of the summer and we’re onto the back nine. Time to tee it up and bring this baby home!

It’s always hard to know where to start these weekly updates as so much happens in a single hour at camp, blink and you miss it! There’s a constant channel of walkie chatter that you hear through out the day

‘Trip 1 is back on camp’

‘Bus 4, heading off camp’

‘Duck Harbor, heading out at the top gate’

‘Braves soccer, leaving camp’

JFK air traffic control should spend a day at IHC, imagine the efficiency!

Once again, we’re sitting here trying to figure out how to describe more than 1% of the action…

Let’s give it a shot anyway!

Mystery Bus Rides

This week we had a handful of Mystery Bus Rides, on Thursday camp felt a little quiet! The CIT’s were on their college tours, Tribe West were gone, Hill Camp were on a Mystery Bus Ride to the Waterpark, Upper Lake went to the movies and Lower Lake had some fun at camp before the liquid sunshine!

Swim Meet

We had our second swim meet of the summer! With campers from various divisions coming together to compete against other camps. Front stroke, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, Butterfly these dolphins splashed their way from one end of the pool to the other! There were so many 1st place ribbons won and plenty of 2nd and 3rd place ribbons to go around. It was a great morning down at the pool!

There was also another polar bear swim this week with an incredible turn-out. These campers don’t want to sleep, they just want to have fun!

Visiting Day

10 months of the year we wait for the 2 months of camp to come around.

During those 2 months, there’s one day that has such a build up around it.

Visiting Day.

It was another successful day full of love, laughter and goodbye tears!

Read all about it here:

Nancy Tucker

“We love you Nancy we do, We love you Nancy we do, We love you Nancy we do, Oh Nancy, we love you!”

The woman, the myth, the legend came back to IHC to perform a collection of her greatest hits! From Habitat to One Meatball, the shower caps were out, the squid arms were flailing and everyone was having a great time. We’re not sure who got more into it, the campers of the staff!

Nancy rocked the Garden stage like a front line act of Coachella.

College Days

It wasn’t quite on the same level as Superbowl Sunday but College Days at IHC was A M A Z I N G! This year the campers brought it and fought their hearts out to try win a desired College Days trophy. We don’t think there’s been a competition this fierce since the Triwizard Tournament of 1994 or the Dodgeball Underdog Story of 2004!

SING!

On Tuesday night we upgraded from Spirit Flagpole to SING! One of the major events of the summer the CIT’s spent 4 days creating beautiful artwork, writing songs, performing skits, teaching their campers and orchestrating it all together to bring it home on the night. Oh, what a night it was, the arena full of scenery and the sound of voices filling the empty spaces of the rafters.

Campfire

The end of week 3 was marked by the consistent crackle of the campfire. Hundreds of campers and camp counselors, coming together to make our community complete.

The CIT’s sitting alongside their siblings and their families, marking a special night after 7,8, or 9 summers at IHC.

The music & theatre departments teamed up to perform a new written song called ‘Welcome Home’ that we’ll be sharing with you!

Tribe West

Our young adventurers are still out west living their best lives. Between the two trips they have conquered Colorado, The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz… and many more!

CIT’s

Our CIT’s have been off camp touring colleges and doubling up as camp counselors on half staff day! These superstars did an amazing job of organizing Sing… we can’t wait to see how they amaze us during Olympics…

But when is it going to be?!

Halloween

One of the scariest nights of the year — IHC’s own version of Halloween is quickly becoming a camp classic!

Each division walks through the IHC woods, where clowns and zombies creep and crawl around! Led by the CIT’s this is one spooky night with screams, screeching and subtle giggles from those what’s coming next,

Hint… it’s not the campers!

Video coming soon!

That’s all for now folks!
