It’s hard to top a hackathon of 1700 hackers, but the Ethereum community showed up and broke new records at ETH India 2022! With 2000 attendees from across 321 cities, a whopping 459 projects were built and deployed to the Ethereum ecosystem in just one weekend.

Blink and you might have missed everything that went on in the past week, but luckily we rounded up all the highlights to share with you. So if you want to know how Cartesi connected with local Web3 communities and what was built? Well, keep reading!

Builders Galore with SuperwomenDAO and friends!

Great to host our Web3 kickoff event with the SuperWomen DAO team!

To kick off a fantastic week of celebrating blockchain tech in India, we collaborated with Superwomen DAO, H.E.R DAO and Andy to throw a networking get-together for ETH India builders.

With so many builders coming from different cities, not to mention an amazing range of backgrounds, we hosted team formation sessions to break the ice and get conversations flowing. Perhaps we even connected you with your future co-founders? Keep us updated! ;)

Bringing Cartesi tech to new developer communities.

Core contributor Carlo led a workshop teaching developers new to Cartesi how to develop DApps using traditional programming languages and libraries. It was amazing to see the sparks of interest catching amongst different developers in the crowd and even better to have those sparks ignite into deeper conversations throughout the night.

From discussions on scaling computations, it was great to end the night with genuine new connections that we’re excited to keep nurturing. To everyone who attended, thank you and welcome to the Cartesi community! Make sure to join us over on Discord to stay connected:

Hello, new pioneers of Cartesi tech.

We had an awesome run with 9 projects submitted to our track - as always it was difficult to choose just one! Let’s take a look at who took home prizes from our $10K track:

🥉Congratulations Automati

A network of nodes using the Cartesi OS that provides a wide array of services to facilitate DApp development such as Oracles, Smart Contract Automation, Gas Station, Webhooks, and Indexing.

🥈Congratulations Ghar On Chain

They created a decentralized version of magic bricks to buy and sell properties. Using Cartesi tech, they deployed a ML model that can predict the prices of houses and suggest users with a house price.

🥇Congratulations Bima Coin

They worked on providing an interface between hardware sensors and the blockchain, with use-cases in motor insurance (and in the future, even consumer goods insurance). Cartesi was used to verify computations.

We’d also like to give an honorable mention to the Cypher team who built an on-chain healthcare management system using identifiers like government ID. Using Cartesi for file handling, we really liked their idea and efforts towards decentralizing the healthcare network — take a deeper look:

And of course, we absolutely have to give a huge thank you to everyone who built with Cartesi tech. We were thoroughly impressed with everyone who presented their projects to us and even more excited to see you take it to the next level!

Make sure to join our Discord community and take a look at Cartesi Labs’ Grants to get support on developing your idea further or connect with builders across the globe.

And that’s a wrap on an incredible weekend of building! With 44% of ETH India builders new to Web3, it’s truly exhilarating to see the Ethereum community not only thriving, but rapidly growing with each event.

We’re already making plans to bring Cartesi tech to even more developer communities in 2023. If you want to learn more as a Web3 developer, check out our upcoming events:

About Cartesi

Cartesi Rollups is a modular execution layer that elevates simple smart contracts to decentralized Linux runtimes. It allows developers to launch highly scalable rollup chains, and code decentralized logic with their favorite languages and software components.

  • Every DApp has its own high-performing rollup chain;
  • No cannibalization of resources from other DApps in Cartesi’s ecosystem;
  • No network gentrification;
  • Enable an entirely new class of DApps that currently cannot run on EVM chains;
  • Preserve the strong security guarantees of the underlying blockchain
