As of 2022 Descartes has now been renamed as Cartesi Compute.

Development Updates

During the last month, the Cartesi team worked towards several important milestones, including releasing Noether’s Proof of Stake: Version 1.1.

Note: If you are currently running your own node and staking CTSI, make sure to upgrade your Node to v1.1 or you will not be able to produce blocks!

Additional development fronts the team worked on are:

  • Significant implementation progress of Cartesi Rollups, a variant of optimistic roll-ups with interactive dispute resolution on Cartesi’s architecture. This will allow smart contracts to be coded with mainstream software.
  • Continued work and implementation of Noether’s Proof of Stake delegation system.
  • Architecture and design decisions for Noether, Cartesi’s data availability side-chain.
  • Continued support for the 3 DApp incubation program projects. We created spotlights and interviews for Creol, SimThunder, and Carti. We also ran a successful $20K Gitcoin Grants matching round for all 3 projects.
  • Cartesi Compute 1.0 SDK has been released and we are now working on the documentation, to be released by the end of the month.
  • Significant progress on the Cartesi Compute 1.0 integration for the Avalanche Fuji C-chain Testnet.
  • Continued progress on other low-level developments, including improvements to the Cartesi Machine.
  • Worked on implementing Cartesi’s new decentralized poker game with one of our partners, a related tech article will be coming soon.
  • In the completion stages of a brand new tech paper related to a new unique feature of Cartesi’s technology.

In addition, the team onboarded 3 new engineers, to be highlighted in future articles and our monthly recap! If you’re a skilled engineer and interested in Cartesi, make sure to head over to our career openings or send an email to hr@cartesi.io.

We highly encourage any developer willing to use or collaborate with Cartesi to contact us on Discord. See you there!
