Cassava V1: AfriMyth Avatars & Everything You Need to Know
We’re extremely excited to announce that the first iteration of our DApp is now live!
And the best part? You don’t need any experience with crypto or Web3 to participate!
This first version of Cassava lays the groundwork for our Web3 infrastructure to come. It’s an important milestone for our project, and in this article, we’ll cover what this first version can do and where we’ll be heading in the future.

AfriMyth Avatars
You may have heard of AfriMyth before; many of you even own AfriMyth NFTs. They’re a central part of our NFT program, a core aspect of our identity and, as we’ll explore, an essential part of our rewards system.
Today we’re launching the AfriMyth Avatar generator, live right now on our website 🔥
With the AfriMyth Avatar generator, you can generate your very own AfriMyth profile picture. These Avatars are a tribute to our African heritage and call back to the myths, legends, and history of our great continent. Check out the AfriMyth Origins story on Medium, and view the character lore when you visit our website.
Creating an AfriMyth Avatar is simple, and for now, you don’t even need a crypto wallet.
- Navigate to cassava.network and sign up with your email address.
- Once you have an account, select ‘My Avatars’ from the menu.
- Choose one of the five avatar bases available. You’ll be able to customize some of the features in the next steps.
- Select the different mask components you like the most.
- Once you’re happy, click ‘Build Avatar’. After a few moments, you’ll receive a notification telling you that your build was successful. Congratulations! You can now check out your unique AfriMyth Avatar✨

Your journey with Cassava starts with your AfriMyth Avatar — but it doesn’t end there.
AfriMyth NFTs and Cassava ID
Earlier this year we released part of our AfriMyth NFT collection, the AfriMyth Props. While these won’t form a part of your avatar yet, that doesn’t mean they aren’t useful.
Our technical team is working hard on finishing the Cassava ID system, which will be built around user-bound NFT tokens. These NFTs will, as you might guess, be linked to your AfriMyth Avatar.
Building the Cassava ID system is a challenging task, and it isn’t quite ready yet. However, once Cassava ID is finished, your Avatar can be minted as an NFT and will serve as your passport to Cassava’s Web3 rewards 💸
At this stage, your Props and other AfriMyth elements will come into play. These different components can be added and changed to customize your AfriMyth Avatar even further, with rarer elements modifying your Cassava experience (for example, by increasing the rate at which you receive rewards). These elements include props, changes to the mask, different clothes, and other cosmetic changes.
We’ll release more info on the transition to Cassava ID and NFTs in the coming weeks.
Laying the groundwork for a Web3 future
Cassava Network is about creating Web3 opportunities for Africans via our rewards infrastructure. This first iteration of our app creates a foundation on which we can build a comprehensive Web3 ecosystem that gives everyone access to the amazing potential that blockchain technology has.
