Hi Castle community!

As we kick off Castle Halloween Party, we’re excited to share that David Cole has cooked up this nifty sprite sheet you can use in spooky dungeon games.

Halloween party sprite sheet

Grid: 16x16

Characters, doors, a couple other things: 16x32

Contents: Walls, floors, a mage, three monsters, three potions, a chest, various objects, and a pumpkin (and maybe more to be added later…)

License: Free to use, modify, or redistribute, as long as you don’t re-sell it as your own.

Here are some examples of how you might use it:

A small, very full dungeon
A larger dungeon

How to use sprite sheets in Castle

If you aren’t sure how to use a sprite sheet in Castle, try starting with the lil adventure template by bridgs, which is provided inside Castle:

The adventure template in Castle is a good starting place for a dungeon crawler.

You’ll get a small, tile-based overhead game which shows how to render different tiles and characters from a single sprite sheet.

Note: We’ll be giving a special online tutorial this Tuesday at 7pm just focused on using sprite sheets, so if you want to ask more questions, be sure and tune in on Tuesday!

Have fun, and let us know if you make anything cool with it! Also, maybe check back here or on twitter later, because David might be adding more updates to this sheet as the party continues. Feel free to drop in on Discord or in Castle chat if you have any requests!

See you in Castle!
