CEO Aaron McDonald shares key developments over the past month

Over the past month, the key focus for Team Centrality has been to build, build and build. We’re seeing great developments across the board, with several projects delivering releases and nailing our game plan.

The previous month has been huge for me professionally, as I was fortunate enough to receive an Edmund Hillary Fellowship and be named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award (New Zealand) — all of which would not have been possible without the great work from teams across the Centrality ecosystem.

To see what we’ve been up to previously, check out July’s update here.

Platform: Pl^g

Plug development teams in London and Auckland have made significant progress in recent weeks with improvements to make it easier for consensus plugins and to improve performance for larger numbers of nodes. We are now in a position to announce PL^G’s launch plan. Click here to see the roadmap for PL^G testing and release.

Core Services

1. Centrapay: Another big integration play for the ecosystem, we kicked off a project with a global vending company to allow users to “CentraPay” for ready-to-drink products, spending their digital assets. Any dApp built on Centrality platform will be able to offer their users this new payment experience. We’ll announce details of this exciting project and the brands involved in the future.

2. The SingleSource team continues to work on their decentralised identity protocol and crypto-AML platform using machine learning models on multiple currencies. CEO Kelvin Chandran is buzzing from the recent China-Japan Blockchain meetup in Beijing, where he was busy presenting the latest features of the dApp and impressing the Chinese blockchain community. Make sure to follow @mysinglesource on twitter to keep up with all the action.

3. Centrality Ventures is working with New Zealand’s leading accelerator to review our pipeline of applicants for the next cohort.

4. The SingularX team has finished its mobile-friendly version website, continued developing trading APIs for bots and lightweight wallet.

5. It’s been a big month for Sylo with the upcoming beta release of their fully decentralised communications app, which was showcased last month at Japan Blockchain Conference in Tokyo and Blockchain Open Forum in Seoul. This release will demonstrate how other dApps come to life within the Sylo experience, in addition to completely decentralised communication functionalities and crypto wallet integration. Sylo is now taking pre-registrations for their beta release here. You can also check out a sneak peek of what will be in Sylo’s upcoming releases in English and Japanese. Sylo has also launched a Telegram group, reaching 4,000 organic members in just 30 days! Make sure you jump in to join the conversation and keep up to date on the project here.

Platform interface: Causality

Causality’s UK-based team are working closely with Centrality’s Australia-based IoT team on the design & development of a new decentralised data marketplace product. This month the teams progressed onto validation of the integration between the components that make up the solution.

Featured dApps

1. We have merged the features of blockeeper and paycheck into a single dApp for payments and accounting, this provides a better user experience when accounting for payments made. In addition, the team have added new payment claim types.

2. TrackBack is working with a Food Assurance entity, a logistics company, and a retailing platform to use our technology to underpin a new certification framework for NZ food export products. The team is working towards ensuring global confidence in product quality, integrity and provenance.

3. During July, the Arda team received another patent to protect its technology and continued to make good progress on the development of its iOS apps. Performance Lab has a strong Intellectual Property portfolio and the additional patent reflects the team’s unique ability to contextualize activity data and turn it into timely, personalized insights that really help a user understand what they need to do next to reach their health or fitness goal. It will be very difficult for competitors to provide the level of personalized coaching that Arda does without encountering its patents.
