Since it was launched in August 2014, on the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, Century has produced a weekly essay reflecting upon the events of the exact week a hundred years earlier. This concentrates upon all the major theatres of war, but seeks also to embrace the social and cultural hinterland, in particular art and literature, religion and society, spiced with as much gossip as space allows.
