Imagà Imaginings 3.0
April 2019 Chalkboard Project
It’s time for one of Chalkboard’s most popular projects! I am pleased to announce the latest round of Imagà Imaginings!
Art inspires. Every time. Paintings and photographs and every other thing ‘art’ brings the Muse out of us. This project is all about ‘images’ (the broadest sense of word), and inspiration. What you see in something, what others might miss, what’s obvious and what everyone else is oblivious to.
Do you know of an image you think that will inspire our writers? Feel free to submit them to this project. (For more information on acceptable images, skip on down to the “Images that inspire!” section.)
You can submit both images and pieces. Please remember we are a collaborative publication. In this case, that means pieces you submit should be inspired by the images in the Imagà Gallery.
How it Works
Prompt me!
Are you ready to write? This project is all about being inspired by the images submitted to the project. As you leaf through the gallery, take your time. Give the images a chance to speak to you. When you are ready, choose the images that inspire you to write.
We will accept pieces in any form for this project. The only limitations beyond the usual are that pieces must be inspired by the linked image AND they must be safe for work. (If you wish to write an explicit piece that’s fine. Please publish it elsewhere.)
- If you write a one-lined poem or other piece shorter than 50 words inspired by a particular image, submit it as a response to the image post.
- For longer, full fledged pieces, create a separate post and use the image in your post with the same attribution (just copy paste from the original attribution).
- Mention the image prompter by copying the line below and changing the <name> to prompter’s name so they get notified and can revel in the depth of your imagination —
This is a response to the Imagà Imaginings prompt by <name>.
<Link to original prompt post>
- One of the five tags must be ‘Imaga Imaginings.’ The rest are yours.
- Submit it to Chalkboard as a draft. (If you are not a writer yet, please respond to this post and we’ll add you up).
- Members only (locked) pieces can be submitted for any piece in this project that is more than 50 words long.
Featured pieces
Each Saturday, three pieces from the week will be selected to be featured at the top of the page. Please note: Only one locked piece will be allowed in the 3 featured stories list at the top of the page each week.
Images that inspire
- If you’d like to submit an image for us to use, please create a draft with the image, attributions in the caption as ‘Photo/Image by <image creator>’ linked to source if online. See how I credit the photo above for reference.
- Please submit image prompts one image per post — and just the image.
- Please make sure that the image is at least 900 pixels wide.
- Title it as “Image Prompt” and submit to Chalkboard.
- Be sure to turn OFF the collaboration option on image submissions. Images that turn out to be members only will be returned to the submitter.
- The editor will number the image-post to easily differentiate the images. We will put instructions on how to respond to the prompt and update it as new pieces come in that are inspired by the image.
- All images must be legal for us to use, no sending any editors to jail!
- Please keep the images Safe For Work! Staying clean.
- Post images which are inspiring. One glance, and viola! all you’ll need is a pen and paper or keypad.
- I’ll compile the images and post it as a gallery for everyone to get inspired.
This project will run through the month of April only, so get your images and pieces in soon!
And that’s fin, you guys! Easy peasy, right? Now let’s get this collaboration project going!
