Heartbeat: Matthew Shetterly’s parents listen to the heart of their son, beating in Erv Basdon’s body*

Grand man gently embraces

the parents of his heart,

their son’s heart;

steadfast music of life

flowing to their hearts

and mine, hearthealing touch

of tender intimacy,

hope’s echo regained.
