Sacrifices

Made for the good of all

Selfish, you say? But I’m
Alone! Unshackled by
Considerations of others.
Reckoning, you say? What
Forces are so strong that
I would give way to We?
Common
Enemy and
Survival!

Considering the situation you, your families, our nation, and the world are experiencing, I’m taking the liberty of coupling Sacrifice with a poem I wrote 3 years ago, Community. I hope together they speak to values we all share in better times and, in these darker times, are the same values we fall back on as we’re reminded of the fragility of the human race and our need for each other.

Community

Interdependence
Is not rooted in weakness
But strength in numbers

None need be held back
By compromise, sacrifice
Win-win implicit

Who’s responsible
To nurture community
All can be heroes
