Our project is in full swing and I love watching it unfold. The thing that has delighted me most about Sestina Synthetica has been the poets’ team spirit — I’ve seen many of you step outside your usual style to better fit your group’s style, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. The result has been a collection of cohesive poems that sound more like you were all sitting in the one room, chatting over coffee, than writing together across space and time.

Two new sestinas are in progress

We’ve got a few new names on the project, but many of you are back for round two. Thank you!

And we’re looking for a few more poets

At the moment we’ve got five writers on the waiting list for our seventh sestina synthetica, and we’re looking for two more to sign up. So, if you’ve been holding back, please come join us! The current waiting list is always shown at the bottom of our Order of Play post.

If it’s your first time, or if you wish to change the details you used in the first round, please sign up here; if you’re coming back for round two, go here.

All four poems from the first round are complete

If you haven’t yet had a look, check them out! They’ve got new titles and images, too.

Check back soon

The stanzas keep coming, and (I hope) new sestinas will soon be starting, so come back and check out our progress. While you’re here, why not respond to our latest One-Line Poem prompt, or learn about our new fiction project, The Murder Room.

With thanks to all participants:
TeriJo, Cynthia Duffy, Heath Houston, Hannah S., Dewi, Indira Reddy, Elizabeth Helmich, Kathy Jacobs, Rachel B. Baxter, Wendi Adair, Jack Preston King, Raymond Arroyo, Renae Tobias, Tasneem Kagalwalla, Kristofer Mac Cormaic, Kunal Duggal, BHD, Alexainie, Vince, Tamyka Bell, Emily Roberts, Janet Rhodes, Kathleen Clarke Anderson, Michael Stalcup, marika bianca, Yaasky, Kinnera Priya Putti, Shahzeb Akhter, …and yell if I missed someone, please.
