Challenge Accepted — Green Challenges

Following our article on ‘5 green challenge ideas to help you be more environmentally friendly’ and whilst the world is following the COP26 event to see how the world will react to the climate change crisis, it can be tricky to know where to start ourselves.

Deciding to make a change and to try is the first big step. If you research how to do this you’ll find advice such as; cutting down on meat, going paperless, growing your own produce etc. all of which are brilliant things you can do. However, trying to find the time to fit in each of these new habits around our current busy lifestyle can be quite overwhelming and therefore lead us to avoid starting.

We’ve added some new challenge ideas to Challenge Accepted which you can start, allowing you to make one significant change at a time, turn it into your new habit, and then you can work on your next.

This does not mean you can’t do them all at once, that’s fantastic! But if you are struggling with where to start, taking one step at a time can be a helpful route to take.

Try car-free weekdays

Try selecting weekdays, weekends or promise yourself a few days a week that you can go car-free — just relying on walking, cycling and public transport.

Try the 30-day challenge to not buy any new clothes

In this challenge, you can still buy from second-hand clothing shops or charity shops. But try to be more sustainable by wearing what you have, and relying less on disposable fashion.

Try going plastic-free for 30-days

This is an eye-opening challenge for how difficult it can be to go completely plastic-free! See how you get on and share any tips you discover on the way to celebrate businesses that are taking this approach.

To take part in any of these challenges download the free Challenge Accepted app, search your challenge (or head to the ‘environment’ category to browse more challenges!) and tick off every day you’ve stuck to your new goal. You can set a reminder too or take part in the challenge with a friend to help keep each other motivated.

If you have your own challenge idea you can also create this in the app! Or let us know and we’ll look into adding this as a challenge for others to start.

Challenge Accepted is free to download on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Select from hundreds of challenges tailored to your interests, and spend more time doing the things you enjoy!
