Chingu Weekly Vol. 78 — Teams are starting to heat up!
🎉 Congratulations janamr for getting the Freecodecamp Front-end Cert!!!!
🎉 Congratulations to the unnamed dev from a bears team who got a dev job this week! 😉
🍾 I just checked the #github-newsfeed channel and MY GOODNESS there are 1855 messages (every single one of them some action from teams on their github repos). I absolutely love to see so much activity from teams!
Sidenote: this is the first time we’ve had this channel so I’m curious how many messages we can get to 😜
Shout-outs & Showcases
🔥 Check out this cool project by @techcatchers: Lyrics Extractor Python Library here!
You can now get lyrics for a song just by passing in the song name without an artist name and my lyrics extracting algorithm will do the rest of the job for you.
It fetches, extracts and returns the song’s title and song lyrics from various websites autocorrecting the song names for the misspelled names along the way.
🔥 This portfolio by @alebarredo is WONDERFUL! See it live here.
🔥 @ZumDeWald is as industrious as ever. Have a gander at his MadLibs app called Silly Stories (I appreciate the minimalist design).
It’s a MadLibs style game designed to help my kids learn basic grammar (noun, verb, etc).
🔥 Love this whisky e-commerce app by @willjw3! That homepage image is…wow. Check it out here 🍻
🔥 For the Game of Thrones fans, check out this project by @Rhannie B!
I wanted to see if I could clone the beginning of the BITLIFE game/app, with a Game of Thrones theme.
Overheard in Chingu — Teams are getting the project fired up! 🔥 🔥

React feels lot more intimidating than vue
My autocorrect changes Austria to Australia every time
I overcame a mental block that previously prevented me from contributing to open source development.
Someone got a job :)
We are together learning js and encouraging each other with a small project just for practice
Established a strong baseline as a team. Focused on our partnership rather than solely on a project. Getting everyone comfortable with GitHub by forking repos and practicing push/pull requests has been fun to practice with others.
My personal achievement is that I get to know things like trello board and found out about Continuous Integration approach and tools to use it for.
