This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. You can find chapter 1 of this story here: The Burned Village. Or check out the previous chapter: ‘Swift and Silent’ by John Fanidis.

You push the door, and hurry down a narrow spiral stairway, reaching a dingy corridor below.

In your mind, you will be able to walk right along to the throne-room of Marroz Pale-eyes!

You tense up when two orc warriors approach along the same corridor. But with a vague nod, they pass by.

The corridor ends at a vast circular training room. You freeze. Several orcs practice with weapons nearby. But again, your disguise works. You hurry towards a door at the far side. One even high-fives you.

Then you trip, slamming your head against a stone pillar…
