A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ tale

You begin to circle, axe raised. But the beast is fast. It lashes out, and you are knocked back once again, falling to the ground this time, and splashing into the effluence (which is mercifully shallow here!).
Then it looms over you, baring its teeth. Its front paws pin you to the ground.
It lowers its jaws…
And then Scruff charges! The weight of his body knocks the creature off balance, and it thumps against the wall. You take the opportunity to lash out with your axe to the back of its head, and it slumps down, stunned for now.
