You sip from the goblet of refreshing water without hesitation. Perhaps it is the throbbing in your head, pounding away like the weaponsmith on an anvil. Or maybe it’s the dry sensation in your mouth, like rubbing two pieces of parchment paper together. If you ultimately succumb to Lorenzo’s tricks, the bards will ensure your legacy lives on, crafting ballads about your bravery.

The silence between you lingers before the prisoner’s deep, throaty chuckle fills the room. “You’re either stupid or brave,” he says with a smile.

You sit on the cold ground beside him, back against the cave’s wall.
