You wake from a dark dream. Staring down at you are Dara, Bruno, and Scruff.
Scruff bounds over to lick your face. You want to wave him off, but you end up hugging the big dog instead.
Then Dara and Bruno exchange a concerned glance.
“What?” you demand. You pull yourself up
Dara sighs. “You’re free of Lorenzo now, but…”
Bruno looks away, his face grim.
You frown and scramble back to the river, afraid of what you might find. When you see your reflection, you gasp. Your eyes are unnaturally bright, and your ears are pointed, like an elf’s!
