This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. You can find chapter 1 of this story here: The Burned Village. Or check out the previous chapter: ‘A Key’ by JF Danskin.

The lizard-creature hisses again, a gaseous cloud forms, and suddenly, a jar appears by your knees.

“Drink.”

Confident in your past choices, you sniff the liquid, then sip. Ice seems to run through you, and your throat constricts.

“The jar of judgement finds… that you have blood on your hands,” hisses the creature. “The blood of innocents.”

You assume expect near-instant death, but instead you lie paralysed, unable to move or speak.

It is around a day later that the orcs enter your cell, to bring you to a feast where you and your family are guests of honor.

You died.
