Using portfolios in your classroom can be powerful tool to improve student engagement with the community.

Idea: Integrate an online, collaborative platform through Medium into the classroom, enabling students and teachers to share work with the community and parents.

Benefits: 1) Promote and share student work, and 2) Contribute with students collaboratively towards an online learning community

Project-based learning has continued to rise in popularity in K-12 education, and there are various opportunities to expand how these projects are assigned. One way is to encourage students to present their work on a public facing platform. A platform like Medium can be used to present a collection of individual projects in a classroom and contribute towards a greater learning community.

Here are just a few ways that you might use Medium in the classroom…

  • Students produce a write-up for their final project with photos and videos
  • Students research their own subtopic in the classroom and write a short article, with an opportunity to get feedback and comment on each others’ articles
  • Teacher reflects on a class and highlights student work and achievements for the greater community

Check out the resources below for other ways to use Medium!
