Faster image resizng

Ever heard of Preset Of Alias Transformations?

In our V7 model of Cloudimage software, you can find this option, whose main purpose is to make your image optimisation job easier and FASTER!

To put it simply- you can adjust your preference for certain categories of images in bulk. This is done by adjusting your browser URL to reflect the way your pictures should look. Here’s an example.

Model V7: token.cloudimg.io/Image URL/alias

Resized image: https://tokenname.cloudimg.io/v7/sample.li/eiffel.jpg?w=250&f=grey (to see changes in the URL structuring between V6 and V7 version please follow this link)

We will name this setup Round1 — which is now actually the name of our alias.

Preset Alias Image Transformation

Resized image with preset alias:

Notre Dame

https://tokenname.cloudimg.io/sample.li/NotreDame.jpg?p=Round1

ArcDeTriomphe

https://tokenname.cloudimg.io/sample.li/ArcDeTriomphe.jpg?p=Round1

Château de

https://tokenname.cloudimg.io/sample.li/Château de Versailles.jpg?p=Round1

Now all of these pictures will have the same customized characteristics as the first one.

To make it even sweeter, you can then upload as many images as you like from your server and just copy-paste the alias configuration.

BOOM!

Your website images are fully optimised and ready to go.

Sit back, relax and wait for the real-time analytics to show you how much your traffic and retention rate have improved.

Another One

To give you a more in-depth example, we are going to introduce to you one of the aliases that a client recommended. The name of that alias is “STARK” and it makes a crop of the image, reduces its quality and applies an enhancement filter.

With this transformations you achieve:

1. Shorter and SEO-friendly image URLs

By using Cloudimage transformations, the URL of the images stays the same no matter how many times you change the options or how many filters you use.

Also, even if you decide to migrate the website, you can do so without changing the image URLs. With the filter alias, the URL will almost always stay the same.

2. Optimal load time

With any additional modifications, alias transformation is allowing us to keep the optimal size of the image. With this, our loading speed remains minimal and therefore the overall site speed is still enhanced even after more than a couple of transformations.

3. Automation to CDN

CDN cloud providers can also offload the decision-making logic (which can be CPU heavy) away from the main server, speeding up overall response times. Cloudimage is also providing real-time rendering so you can speed up the optimisation and enhancement process.

For more details on the power of alias check our docs on this feature here: https://docs.cloudimage.io/go/cloudimage-documentation-v7/en/presets

We will finish off with the thought that image optimisation is both an art and science.

Let us know of any good case practices you may encounter while using our tools and expect fresh updates from us soon.

Stay Savvy!!!
