Fatima has a background in social justice and public policy, and is excited to apply that knowledge to her work on Code for Canada’s fellowship program.

Code for Canada’s small (but mighty) team is growing!

Please join us in welcoming Fatima Barron on board as our new Fellowship Program Coordinator.

Fatima is poised to play a big role in Code for Canada’s fellowship recruitment and onboarding process. She’ll be responsible for ensuring a myriad of stakeholders — including applicants, fellows, government partners, selection panellists and onboarding speakers — have a great experience as they interface with our flagship program.

And, as part of her onboarding, she got to take part in the onboarding process for our third fellowship cohort.

“The fellows are so excited, and so capable. It’s been great to learn alongside them.”

“The fellows are so excited, and so capable,” she said. “It’s been great to learn alongside them. It really helps inform my work.”

Fatima comes to Code for Canada via Ottawa, where she studied public policy at Carleton University.

“I’ve always been interested in government, especially the municipal level,” she says. “The local government impacts people’s day to day lives, and it’s also a real tangible entry point for residents to get involved.”

With a professional background in social justice and community development, Fatima is thrilled to apply her knowledge and experience to Code for Canada’s mission.

“I’m really excited to work at a place that models agile thinking,” she said. “Tech is here, so why not make it more human-centred, responsive and accessible.”
