CodeNow 2.0

2017 has been a groundbreaking year for CodeNow. High school students all over the country discovered design, product development, programming, and entrepreneurship through our new program.

Level One: Workshops

Students began their CodeNow journey at the Level One workshops. Over four days, they identified meaningful problems to solve and scoped them down to a manageable size. Next they prototyped their solutions with HTML and CSS. It culminated in a database-backed web application they were able to use in the real world.

We held seven total Level One Workshops in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and at Michigan State University this year.

Breakdown of Our Students

43% Girls

57% Boys

84% Scholarship Recipients

Our volunteers provided over 5,300 training hours.

Of those volunteers, 20% were former CodeNow students!

Level Two: Online Learning

After completing the workshops, students had the choice to opt into Level Two, our online curriculum consisting of over 60 additional hours worth of material. Students are able to acquire a deeper understanding of design, programming, and product development through lessons created for CodeNow.

As we look forward to 2018, our students will be able to unlock entry to the Level Three Hackathons and test their skills in the Level Four Summer App Competition.

CodeNow Alumni Are Up To Big Things

Our students started coding clubs, interned at Fortune 500 companies, and pursued technology degrees in top universities across the country.

This year alone, our students interned at companies such as Google, Facebook, JP Morgan Chase, KPMG, and Zillow.

These are the outcomes that make it all worth it, and we’ll keep going until every student believes they have the ability to solve the problems they care about and make a dent in the universe.
