The IT sphere is young. It always was. The gang of skinny geniuses creating legendary companies in their parent’s garages. This is the backbone of Silicon Valley. The spirit of innovation is one of the core parts of the IT field.

Nowadays, innovations become even more innovative. Developers become younger. The IT field is getting crazy ;P

Recently I interviewed a 20-years old guy. He claimed that he was a senior developer. The shocking fact — he was a senior developer in his twenties.

It got me thinking — what is the difference between junior and senior developers? Clearly, it isn’t age or bachelor’s degree. Experience matters but is it that crucial? Also, how can you define experience?

I asked these questions to a bunch of developers. The funny fact is that they all gave different answers. Looks like there is no clear answer to the question of who is the senior developer?

But there are some common features of that mythical senior dev most correspondents agree on. Let’s start with them.
